As 2015 comes to a close, my thoughts are moving to 2016, and what I am up to as the new year rolls in. It got me thinking about everything I have accomplished this year, all of which I am super grateful for. I have planted seeds for myself that I know will create huge things for me in the next few years; however, I’m ready for things to continue on the momentum that I’ve started for this year and get bigger as I move forward.
Of course we all do the new years resolution thing. And I love resolutions! They’re a great way to give yourself something to strive for, especially if it helps you get healthier or feel better about yourself. I find that while people are good at setting resolutions, myself included, the follow through on the action portion of how to get what you want gets lost. For example, the most common resolution I hear is – people want to lose weight. They join a gym or buy a membership at a yoga studio. Then they dive in to all the workouts, the cleanses, the diets and what happens. Burn out. By February, the plan is gone and life goes back to normal. And it goes on and on. Why does this happen? We want to achieve the goals we’ve set for ourselves. So why does it seem so hard to get there? Probably because we’ve missed one major step. Setting ourselves up for success by breaking it down, having clear tools to support those goals, and what to do when you have a moment and want out.
In January of 2015, I attended a workshop at Power Yoga Canada Oshawa called Intention to Action. The workshop promised to provide tools and timelines for you to not only set goals, but make them a reality. Needless to say I was intruiged. I was ready to step into to something new and thought it would be great to have some tools to get myself to the next level of what I wanted to create for my life. What I got was a whole lot more than that.
The work that we did delivered on its promise. I walked away with some pretty powerful tools and some pretty powerful declarations were made. What was most valuable for me, was having the opportunity to visualize what I was creating. The facilitator took us through a meditation that asked us to see what we wanted manifested, as if it was happening right now. After doing all that work, seeing everything that I had created in my mind gave me a clear picture of my future and served one purpose. Making me want it even more. I finally could see with clarity where I wanted my life to go. It was exciting! It gave me the push I needed to start putting all those amazing intentions into…well, action. It gave me a tangible goal to strive for. And broke it down into steps that would get me there. I felt very powerful and very clear.
And the great thing is when you feel powerful and clear, you can make magical things happen. It clears away all the bullshit. It gives you a concrete way to manifest your dreams. And most importantly, when I felt stuck or wanted out or things seemed hopeless, having everything all laid out in front of me was a great way for me to remember why I was doing all this work in the first place.
So, if you have a plan to make a resolution, if you have something you want but don’t know how to get there, this is a perfect opportunity for you to set yourself up. Intention to Action is happening locally on January 10th, at Lululemon in the Oshawa Centre Mall. To sign up go to www.eventbrite.ca – search Intention to Action. I’ll be there setting up my 2016.
