About 4 weeks ago I got hit with an ear infection, something I haven’t experienced since I was a child. It was an interesting sensation, not being able to fully hear, having to really slow down and rest way more than I was used to. Truthfully it was a lot for me to handle. I am like many other humans on this planet who are very trained to be in our masculine energy. To be in action. To get things done. To have plans, to be busy and to do as much as possible. So on a good day it seems to be challenging for me to take time to soften and relax.
Now that we are deep into a pandemic and most of us are being smart and taking on social distancing, the real work to soften has begun. The world is slowing down, people are doing less, feeling more and it’s bringing a lot up to the surface emotionally for most of us.
As a collective we are being asked to tap in to our feminine energy. Feminine is connected to your ability to be still. To soften. To be more passive and allow things to unfold. There is no forcing here. This is a time to stop. So of course, with a huge shift like this there would naturally be feelings like panic, fear, anxiety and a want for things to go back to normal.
Some of you may be asking why is this happening or why is it necessary? Well, there has been a huge imbalance between masculine and feminine energy for a very long time. In order for us to heal as a species, we have to learn how to embrace both energies, both ways of being. To see the value in action and passive. To understand the need for movement and stillness. That masculine is key but so is feminine. One doesn’t exist without the other.
So this pandemic, such as it is, is really a detox of sorts for us. If you’ve ever done a detox you know that there are days when you feel great and days when you feel like you are losing your mind. But this all needs to happen so we can move forward together. Consider that this is a moment where you can learn how to be more vulnerable. More grateful for what you have. To understand how powerful you are. That you have an impact on the people around you. That you can share and support people. You don’t have to protect yourself, this is a chance for you to open up. Take the opportunity to soften, to be still. Don’t fill this up with your to do list. Let yourself be a little bit. If you are fortunate enough to be healthy, take a moment to be grateful and then see what you can do to be of service to humanity.
Ultimately this is a lesson for us to learn about how we really need to be for each other. We are not separate. We do not need to look out for number 1. We need to come together. To support each other. To share love. To open up.
The world is not going to go back to the way it was, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s a beautiful time for us to do better. Take the lessons and use them to transform ourselves and the world around us. Keep sharing. Keep loving. Keep trusting. We will get through this together.
